The Bandage Ritual

Before the glove, the hands of the Matador.

Sitting on the canvas, inside the cage, El Matador watches in silence as Javi Climent, his trusted man in boxing, bandages his hands turn by turn. It is the gesture that opens each sparring and pad work session at the Miami gym: a brief, precise, almost intimate ritual, where the correct tension of the fabric on the knuckles is measured.

There is no rush or extra words. Only the white bandage advancing between the fingers, the gazes fixed on the work, the trust built over years of shared corner. From here will come the blows he prepares for Justin Gaethje on June 14, 2026 at UFC Freedom 250, the White House evening with which Donald Trump celebrates his 80th birthday and the 250th anniversary of US Independence.
